At EA SPORTS - It's In The Game one can find material about the Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 2004 and 2005 golf software.
I have been playing the 2004 version for PC and this golf progam is truly addictive.
I have already mastered the Career Mode, including attributes of 125 for all parameters, so that this is doable, although not easy. I have averaged about 65 strokes a round up to now ith my best rounds being a 46 for 18 holes at the Royal Birkdale and a 52 for 18 holes at St. Andrews (this is only possible if you have and use the Power Shot alternative - which one can acquire in the course of game lessons, and which allows the player to reach many par 4s in one shot.)
There is also a cheat which I have discovered which makes play of the game easier for some of the very difficult courses, such as The Highlands in high winds, which just otherwise steals too much time since one has to repeat entire rounds rather than just one dismal hole. Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 2004 uses a .tmp file which can be found in the Windows Task Manager (CTRL-ALT-DEL). Before the end of a hole, select to end this process and at the next start of Tiger Woods PGA TOUR 2004 you will be asked if you want to continue with the game already started. Click yes and it will take you to the tee of the hole you just played (but did not finish). With this alternative, it is possible to beat The Highlands in high winds and of course to get better scores on ALL courses - but I used it mainly to obtain needed training of various wind and weather positions in various lies.
Another tip applies to the The Predator Course, which I finished in 59 strokes for 18 holes. The trick here is to use the Power Shot setting where possible on drives and to look for "holes" in the trees in the dense jungle - the drives actually go through some of these, permitting one to reach some of the par 4 and par 5 holes in 1 shot. You have to experiment to find where it is possible to cut the doglegs. Otherwise, if you just follow the fairway, it is tough to get a top score at The Predator.
My last tip concerns putting. Best results are achieved by hitting the ball hard and in 3-click modus, which I use as the more accurate of the alternatives, by clicking somewhat to the right or left of the guideline, depending on the break. This imparts an extra "spin" to the ball and reduces the break of the putt, allowing the player to make many more long putts.
Those tips should help anyone to vastly improve their appreciation of this fine software product. When you have learned to play properly, then you will see that you can dispense with cheats and still get tremendous results.
I use the software as a simulation for real golf and it has helped me play better on real golf courses. I am the senior club champion of my golf club two years running now and finished 3rd overall for all age groups this year. In fact, I could also easily have won the tournament this year. By next year, I will be ready :-)
