NCAA Men's Basketball 2004-2005 - New Mexico Lobos Off to A Great Start
NCAA Men's Basketball 2004-2005 - New Mexico Lobos Off to A Great Start
The best team in NCAA College Basketball, to start out the season, is ...
New Mexico.
The hot-shooting Lobos (4-0) destroyed Santa Clara 93-59 with 20 of 35 3-point shooting, while Santa Clara (3-1) came back 6 days later to beat 4th-ranked North Carolina 77-66.
The Lobos can not shoot that well all the time and are sure to lose a couple on a cold night, but with a great shooting team like this, there will be many wins.

Boxing - KO required to win heavyweight title?
Boxing - KO required to win heavyweight title?
A November 14, 20004 article By TIM DAHLBERG, AP Boxing Writer, entitled Byrd retains title while Holyfield dominated again in loss to Donald points to the difficulty of the heavyweight championship changing hands without a KO or a TKO by the challenger. Jarmeel knocked down IBF heavyweight champion Chris Byrd in their title fight but still lost on a split decision. In his previous fight, Byrd had retained the title due to a draw with the challenger Andrew Golota, who on this same night, twice knocked down WBA heavyweight champion John Ruiz but still lost the fight on points. Based on those two fights, we can say that neither Byrd nor Ruiz are champions in our books, since their wins over Golota are by no means clear, which is to say that there should be rematches in both cases.

Also in the postseason NCAA-II playoffs are the Albany State (Georgia) Golden Rams (10-0), who hold a 17-game winning streak, the longest in NCAA Division II. The now 2nd-ranked Golden Rams beat Fort Valley State 20-19 in a come-from-behind victory in the 4th quarter in their last game of the season. Their big win of the season was a 24-22 upset of then 3rd-ranked Valdosta State (9-1) who are also in the postseason playoffs and still ranked 3rd.
Those four teams have to be seen as the favorites for the championship, although they might be challenged by the 5th-ranked and undefeated Colorado Mines Orediggers (11-0) with their quarterback Chad Friehauf, who set a single season NCAA-II record for total offense. Based on comparative scores, e.g. Missouri Rolla, Pittsburg is the clear favorite.

Colley Matrix, BCS college football rankings and Presidential polls
Colley Matrix, BCS college football rankings and Presidential polls
The BCS college football ranking system has come under a lot of criticism over the years, but in fact, it may be the best thing out there.
Wesley L. Colley Matrix (CM) Rankings is one of the BCS computer rankers and recently applied a simple mathematical system to prediction of the US Presidential election. As one can read at Colley Rankings, the method that Colley Rankings used resulted in a correct prediction for every state exept Hawaii.
In other words, Colley did substantially better in their Presidential election prediction than the specially designed systems normally used by others.
Take a look at the current Colley Matrix rankings.
