College Football Bowl Game Prediction RESULTS for the Season Ending 2014-2015

Our preseason rankings seen at this link, had as the first five teams: Alabama, Auburn, Florida State, Oregon and Ohio State,
four of which were in the National Championship College Football Playoffs.

In our opinion, the College Football Playoff Selection Committee did a fine job in selecting teams, resulting in good match-ups all down the playoff and bowl line-up, thus reducing irreconcilable controversies, and allowing all teams to make a statement at the end of the season as to how good they really are.

It was a tough year for prognosticating. After the 15th Week of play we were 596-222 in calling the winner (73%), 349-344 against the spread, excluding ties (50.4%), and 363-347 against the CFPT prediction average (51.1%).

Caveat emptor (Buyer beware): We make this material available in good fun out of interest for the sport of college football. Please do not rely on our material to place bets or wagers of any kind.  No one knows the exact outcome of a game or a season before it is played and that is what makes it so interesting. We disclaim any and all liability for the consequences of anyone relying in any way upon our postings, analysis, links or reasoning - for which we make no warranty of accuracy. May the best team win.

The game odds ("point spread", "spread") etc. used here were taken -- as far as possible -- from the opening lines posted at Oddsshark, ESPN and CFPT (The College Football Prediction Tracker). The "CFPT prediction average" was taken from CFPT. Please note that posted odds can differ among the various sources and that these can change over time, but our predictions, once made, do not reflect later changes. We do this FOR FUN. Professional oddsmakers do it for a living and they are skilled at what they do. Never rely on our posted odds here for betting. Go to the sources and always check and cross-check.

Be sure to check out the head coaching changes.

After each team, the figure in parentheses gives the team's rank in our system.

Ohio State vs. Oregon
The Ducks were favored over the Buckeyes by 6 points.
The CFPT prediction average was 3.94 points favoring Oregon.
The over/under was 74.5 points.
Our call: 42-40 for Ohio State. For the season, we rate the Ducks at +1.4 rating points and the Buckeyes at +1.3 rating points, a difference of 0.1 rating points x 10 = 1 scoreboard point. In their last two games, the Buckeyes have over-excelled. Ohio State outgained Alabama by an unexpected 537 to 407 yards and won the yards per play stat, 6.9 to 5.8 against the team we had ranked No. 1 in the nation, which by our stats would make the Buckeyes 11 points better than the Crimson Tide, and in fact they won by 7. With Cardale Jones at the helm the team looks much stronger than previously in the season, an incredible situation -- given that Jones was a player who started out the year as 3rd string quarterback. Hard to believe, but Jones has been playing like a new Ben Roethlisberger in his first two starts. Wisconsin never knew what hit them in their 59-0 loss. They were totally unprepared. Much as we are fans of Scott Frost, who we hoped would be selected as the new Husker head football coach, but was not, football destiny may be on the side of the Buckeyes. Oregon did of course outgain defending national champion Florida State 639 to 528 yards in a 59-20 win, giving the Ducks a 7.9 to 6.1 yards per play advantage, i.e. an 18 point margin by our system, even though they won by 39 due to 5 Seminoles turnovers. We currently rank Alabama 9 points better than Florida State, so also there, when we calibrate the stats, we make Ohio State the favorite by 2 points based on stats from the last games of both teams. Who will win? The Heisman Tropy winning Marcus Mariota against a 6'5" 250-pound one-time 3rd-stringer who throws like Johnny Unitas. But hey, it is a team game and the "team players" will ultimately decide. We shall see. It looks like a game for the ages.
Result: 42-20 for Ohio State in winning the 1st CFP National Championship Game, presented by AT&T at Arlington, Texas.
For bowl games we are 23-17 in predicting the winner, 21-18 against the spread, 20-19 against the CFPT average and 18-17-4 against the over/under.

Both book volumes contain the following basic book description:
"Alice Cunningham Fletcher observed in her 1902 publication in the American Anthropologist
that there is ample evidence that some ancient cultures in Native America, e.g. the Pawnee in Nebraska,
geographically located their villages according to patterns seen in stars of the heavens.
See Alice C. Fletcher, Star Cult Among the Pawnee--A Preliminary Report,
    American Anthropologist, 4, 730-736, 1902.
    Ralph N. Buckstaff wrote:
"These Indians recognized the constellations as we do, also the important stars,
drawing them according to their magnitude.
The groups were placed with a great deal of thought and care and show long study.
    ... They were keen observers....
The Pawnee Indians must have had a knowledge of astronomy comparable to that of the early white men."
See Ralph N. Buckstaff, Stars and Constellations of a Pawnee Sky Map,
    American Anthropologist, Vol. 29, Nr. 2, April-June 1927, pp. 279-285, 1927.
In our book, we take these observations one level further
and show that megalithic sites and petroglyphic rock carving and pictographic rock art in Native America,
together with mounds and earthworks, were made to represent territorial geographic landmarks
placed according to the stars of the sky using the ready map of the starry sky
in the hermetic tradition, "as above, so below".
That mirror image of the heavens on terrestrial land is the "Sky Earth" of Native America,
whose "rock stars" are the real stars of the heavens, "immortalized" by rock art petroglyphs, pictographs,
cave paintings, earthworks and mounds of various kinds (stone, earth, shells) on our Earth.
    These landmarks were placed systematically
in North America, Central America (Meso-America) and South America
and can to a large degree be reconstructed as the Sky Earth of Native America."
